She is experienced at working with those who have had aversive experiences in their bodies, including issues with body image, frustration with dieting, and anxiety around exercise. Her training is founded in the principles of Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating. She seeks to empower her clients to be the experts of their own bodies, and offers training that is respectful, attuned, and yes, FUN!

TRAIN WITH EMILY

What am I most passionate about in fitness?

"I came to personal training to further the work I do and offer individualized, attuned, and inclusive training to all. Movement has the power to heal both the mind and the body, and I believe that every body is made to move. It is my mission to help people learn to trust their bodies and find the joy in movement."

What is my coaching style?

"I offer training that is weight and size-neutral, with a focus on how your body feels, not how it looks. I want to help empower people find the movement they love with the intent of creating confidence and competence with their bodies. Exercise should be fun, so by creating a collaborative experience where the client is the ultimate expert, I'm able to help you find success by following a path we create together.

What am I like outside of the gym?

In addition to personal training, I separately operate a clinical psychology private practice, specializing in trauma healing, eating concerns, and body-oriented therapy. I also teach Zumba and BodyPump at PAC. My approach to training and teaching is to keep things fun, with lots of good music! In my own life, I try to practice what I preach - that movement should be fun and flexible with our changing lives and bodies. My own workouts have a lot of variety and incorporate dance, walking, and strength training. Plus, I'm always up for trying something new. I love the social nature of the club, and enjoy seeing familiar faces as well as making new connections. When I'm not at the gym, I enjoy hiking, gardening, singing, cooking, and petting every dog that crosses my path.

Who would be well-suited to train with me?

"I enjoy working with people of all training levels and abilities. From former athletes to people who were picked last in gym class, I want to help you reconnect to your body and find the movement you love. I am especially skilled at working with people who have had negative experiences around exercise or don't know where to start."
