Endurance Coach – Tom

I was born and raised in Sun Prairie and was a member of the Prairie Athletic Club when it first opened. I have always been active and involved in sports with hockey being my sport of choice growing up and through High School.

Like most people life kind of got in the way once I graduated from college. I played hockey for a few years, then took up curling. In the mid 2000’s I had a number of significant life events that changed how I view my health and taking care of myself. I started running again (I have run off and on since I was kid) and began working out to lose weight and take better care of myself.

In 2011 my wife and I went to watch Ironman Wisconsin. I told her, some day I will do that.  Fast forward a few years and lot of triathlons later and I am hooked on the sport.  Shortly after my Ironman in 2015 I approached my Senior Vice President at work and I asked him I could present some “health tips” during his monthly all hands call.  He thought it was a great idea and I did this until I retired from my job in early 2019.  It was during this time that I realized I had a passion for helping others discover the benefits of being healthy, eating healthy, exercising, and being generally mindful of how they are feeling. Every month someone would contact me after the call and tell me how I helped them.  I had no idea this was making such an impact.

This year I worked with 11 kids in the Tri 4 Schools triathlon program. Training them on swimming, biking, running, nutrition and life skills. I am also working with 2 adult athletes this year including one that will be doing his first Ironman.  I am happy to share my passion with others and I would like to help anyone that is interested in mapping a plan to achieve their goals, whatever they are.
