Certified Personal Trainer

Under the leadership of the Personal Training Director and Club Owners, the Personal Trainer is responsible for building a client base that contributes to departmental revenues by maintaining an existing client base, marketing programs and services and utilizing the highest quality of customer service.

Personal Trainer
Full-Time Hourly Employee, Commissioned Employee, Non-Exempt
Schedule: 32-40 hrs/wk, including nights and some weekends

Start Date: Flexible

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain a personal commitment to meeting the needs of members, clients and guests
  • Be able to demonstrate correct use of all weight, cardiovascular and functional equipment
  • Conduct client consultations and advise members on exercise recommendations based on fitness evaluations, as well as client needs and goals
  • Assist in development and implementation of club programs and events
  • Participate in all staff related meetings and other required activities
  • Maintain accurate personal training records including, but not limited to:
  • Health history/contraindication form
  • Workout documentation
  • Current contact information
  • Behave as a role model by leading and promoting a healthy lifestyle
  • Maintain a positive attitude at all times when working with clients
  • Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth and maintain continuing education credits in order to stay up to date on certification(s)
  • Dress professionally according to current dress code standards
  • Provide outstanding customer service by assisting members in monitoring their exercise programs, encouraging clients to reach their fitness and wellness goals, and handling any concerns and complaints quickly and effectively
  • Actively market and promote personal training to acquire new clients and retain existing clients
  • Encourage clients to take advantage of other club services and programs
  • Recommend changes for programming and services in line with current scientific findings
  • Help maintain the cleanliness of the Personal Training Area by returning equipment to its proper location, noting any broken or damaged equipment, and maintaining a safe workout space for you and your clients
  • Assist in member services including and not limited to: welcoming members, recording member visits, registering members for classes and appointments, becoming proficient in software systems, maintaining cleanliness, and communicating positively and effectively with members, management and co-workers

REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Must hold a nationally recognized personal training certification from NSCA, ACSM, NASM or ACE. Other certifying bodies will be considered. Must have and maintain current Adult CPR and AED certifications. Bachelor’s degree in an exercise science related field is preferred, but other combinations of education and experience will be considered.
