Have you ever been in your workout and the exercise you are performing doesn’t feel like you are working any muscles? Many people feel this during core stability exercises. The main reason for this is because it is an isometric exercise. This means that the muscles are not moving. When you are working a muscle isometrically you are working on that muscles stability. The reason for not feeling the “pump” as you would during a bicep curl or other exercise is because the “pump” comes from the contracting and relaxing of a muscle which encourages blood flow to that muscle. An isometric exercise does not get that same increase of blood flow. Stability exercises are important for teaching and training your muscles to stay strong and keep good posture. Without a stable core an athlete would not be able to be the best he or she can be.
