CrossFit

CrossFit is "Constantly varied, functional movement, performed at high intensity."

Okay, but what exactly does that mean? It means we vary our workouts so that we can prepare for many different physical challenges, focusing on highly functional movements (movements you do in your daily life) like squatting, lifting, pushing, and pulling. All CrossFit workouts are based on those functional movements, and those movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing, and more. Our goal is for every Vultus athlete (when you come in our box, you’re an athlete) to work at an intensity that is challenging for them, but also to able to perform the workouts SAFELY. We aim for every movement to be as skilled and safe as possible.

Let CrossFit Vultus be your home away from home

Traveling, visiting family, or in town for The Games? We always welcome CrossFitters from other boxes and love having visitors come WOD with us! Our drop-in fee for non-members is $20, and when you buy a t-shirt or tank, the first drop-in is on us. You must have Crossfit experience to attend a regular class. Nope! One of the common misconceptions of CrossFit is that it's only for elite level athletes. In reality, the CrossFit community is made up of competitive athletes, former athletes, working professionals, and people who prior to CrossFit, had never even set foot in a gym before!

No problem! Our workouts and exercises scale to any level- from PVC pipes to heavy barbells, at CrossFit Vultus, we tailor the workout to your individual ability.

The idea of CrossFit is that it's constantly varied exercise, so don't worry about ever getting bored! You will learn nine foundational functional movements of CrossFit, such as squats, pushing, and pulling. In classes we use kettlebells, barbells, ropes, gymnastic movements, Olympic lifts, bands, rings, rowers, medicine balls, dumbbells, and more.

We aren't stopping you, and neither should an injury! The beauty about CrossFit is that the exercises and movements can be easily scaled and adjusted to individual needs. We have had many members come through the doors with previous injuries that have found relief from pain by strengthening the muscles around the problem area. Often times people stop exercising a previously injured area due to fear of re-injury or pain, and because of this, they end up deconditioned, weak, and even MORE susceptible to injury in the future! Let our coaches help you gain back your pre-injury strength and confidence!

WOD stands for Workout of the Day.

Unless you are increasing your daily caloric intake to astronomical amounts, lifting extremely heavy weights multiple times a day, and putting extra substances into your body that aren't already there, no you will not look like the Incredible Hulk from doing CrossFit. Now will you end up looking more toned? Yeah, we'd bet on it!

CrossFit is a process of taking your mind and body from it's current state to becoming fit and physically competent to handle all of the challenges in life. We accomplish this by getting you to step outside of your comfort zone. Education is a big part of CrossFit, when you start you are not expected to have the knowledge you need. As you work to become a fitter and healthier person, you will learn about: Movement - How to move safely and effectively. Fitness - What it means to be fit.Its definition, the supporting theories, and how to go about attaining it in real life. Nutrition - What you fuel your body with will make all the difference in the world when it comes to performance.

What is The Onramp Program? Our onramp program is an introduction to the techniques of CrossFit. It emphasizes skill development and the basic fundamental movements necessary for CrossFit. It is designed to prepare anyone and everyone for our ongoing group classes. Our objective is to educate and correct proper technique at all times; this is to ensure your safety and success at all levels of CrossFit. What can you expect in the Onramp program You will be introduced to safety, technique and mechanics. Once you have learned these things, intensity will be added to your program. The fundamental movements of CrossFit (Press, Deadlift and Squat) will be emphasized.

Introducing YouthFit! Pairing fitness with fun, our program is a great base for kids to carry into other sports and helps introduce fitness as a lifestyle.
